“Integrated Territorial Synergies for Children Health and Protection ΙΙ - INTERSYC II”: 3nd project meeting and intermediate conference held in Blagoevgrad
The 3rd meeting of the Cross-border European Territorial Cooperation project entitled "Integrated Territorial Synergies for Children Health and Protection ΙΙ - INTERSYC II" was held on the 28th of February in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The project is funded by the European Territorial Cooperation Programme “Interreg V-A Greece -Bulgaria” 2014-2020 and the meeting was combined with the intermediate conference that was held on the 27th of February in Blagoevgrad, in the presence of representatives of the local authorities of the city as well as of the partners of the project.
Members of the scientific personnel of “The Smile of the Child”, as well as representatives of the partner organizations from Greece and Bulgaria: Nadja Centre Foundation, Sandanski Branch and Municipal Development Agency οf Komotini Municipality took part in the events, which were hosted by the Regional Inspectorate of Education – Blagoevgrad.
The event offered the opportunity to participants to discuss on the Preventive Medicine Action in Bulgaria which was kicked off on the 3rd of December 2018 and is expected to be completed on the 21st of March 2019. So far more than 2.500 children have been examined by pediatricians, ophthalmologists, dentists, ENTs and orthopedics in the regions of Sandanski and Blagoevgrad. The action plan and the procedures for the successful implementation of the Preventive Medicine Action in Greece were also discussed, scheduled to take place from the 4th of March to the 4th of June 2019 in the Municipalities of Komotini, Iasmos and Maroneia – Sapon with the participation of more than 2.350 children.
The project’s training, including of (first aid seminars, promotion/training and demonstrative operation of the European Hotline for the missing children 116000) and communication aspects as well as administrative and financial management issues were also analyzed, whereas participants worked together to determine the next steps of implementation.
The project started on the 5th of September 2017, its duration is 24 months and it aims at protecting and improving the quality of children’s lives at cross-border level.
