“The Smile of the Child” awarded at BRAVO SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2019

"The Smile of the Child" was awarded at BRAVO SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2019, held on Wednesday 18 December 2019 at Athens Concert Hall. The Organization was awarded under the pillar of “Governance” in recognition of its 2017 Sustainable Development Report, conducted with the support of EY Greece.   

During the award ceremony the President of the Board of Directors, Mr. Costas Yannopoulos thanked for the honor and highlighted the importance of the specific  report that reflects the spirit of accountability, transparency and extroversion  that governs "The Smile of the Child" and the actions it implements for all children in Greece.

The 2017 Sustainable Development Report was conducted according to the UN Development Goals. This report is one of the first conducted for civil society Organizations in Greece based on the international standards of sustainable reports, whereas on a global level only few similar reports have been conducted.

According to the report, the Organization’s actions contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 1,3, 8, 10 and 16 under the UN Agenda 2030. These goals refer to the eradication of all forms of poverty, the promotion of good health and prosperity, the promotion of decent work and economic growth, the fight against inequalities and the global effort to ensure peace, justice and strong institutions.

Ethics and dignity, fundraising, financial stability, responsible management and distribution of resources are the three most significant issues highlighted by the report with which the Organization is fully aligned. Important issues that were highlighted by the report was the substance of the work of the Organization and the services provided free of charge to every child and family in Greece in the critical fields of violence, health, disappearance and poverty.
