“The Smile of the Child” and “Wings of Help” team up for the benefit of children in Greece

 

An important collaboration in support of children and families in need was recently initiated between ‘The Smile of the Child” and «Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen – Wings of Help (LOG)» Frankfurt-based Organization whose mission is to provide relief and assistance

 

More specifically, the team of “Wings of Help” visited the premises of “The Smile of the Child” in Athens from 10 to 12 September where they had the opportunity to meet the staff and the actions of the Organization. During the visit a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between “The Smile of the Child” and “Wings of Help”.

 

“Our partnership proves that if we all unite we will succeed in making the difference for many more children and families in need. Dignity, quality and holistic solutions lie at the heart of our philosophy which is also shared by “Wings of Help”. Our joint goal is to build upon these principles and enhance the substantial support of families in need through our nationwide network of actions” said the President of the BoD of “The Smile of the Child”, Mr. Costas Yannopoulos.

 

On his part the President of “Wings of Help”, Mr. Frank Franke highlighted: “We are proud of our joint cooperation with one of the largest Organizations in Greece, recognized by the entire society not only in Greece, but also internationally. We are impressed by their holistic approach and network of infrastructure in support of families in need and we look forward to being part of their important struggle to respond to the ever increasing needs of children”.  

 

The cooperation between the two Organizations is focused on the areas of transporting and providing first necessity goods and items for children and families in Greece. In this context “The Smile of the Child” will have the responsibility to ensure through its high standards of operation the safety, quality, proper storage, management and distribution of the items to the families in need based on its nationwide network of actions across Greece.

 

As part of this visit a delivery of goods took place at the Operational Center and Support Center of Eastern Attica for Children and Families of the Organization in Nea Makri, organized upon the initiative and management of “Wings of Help” and including amongst other items baby food, sanitary products, bottled water, clothes and shoes for children.

 

The team of “Wings of Help” had the opportunity to meet the scientific staff of the Organization at the Operational Emergency Center of “The Smile of the Child” where the operations are coordinated in cases of emergency situations and cases of children at immediate risk and visit the Support Centers for Children and Families, the European Student Volunteer Network of YouSmile and one of the Homes for children of the Organization.  

 

In addition, the team of “Wings of Help” was introduced to the operation and logistical means and infrastructure that “The Smile of the Child” sets at the disposal of the authorities and society in order to ensure the protection and care for children, whereas they visited the actions and services of the Organization provided to the people affected by the recent tragic wildfires in Eastern Attica as well as the actions and services soon to be developed by the Organization in order to support those individuals affected.

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen – Wings of Help (LOG) spreads its wings to help people in need. Wings of Help have partner organizations in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain and Finland. The organization has been established more than 10 years ago and is focused on helping the weakest of society - the children. The areas of LOG’s activities are the sustainable relief supply after natural and humanitarian catastrophes as well as for example medical emergency transportations from all over the world to Germany.
