Maria’s family is one of the few families with 4 or more children on the island. She has 5 children: the 3-year-old twins, Gregory & Anna, and another 3 girls, 5, 7 & 10 years of age, so the everyday difficulties have now become greater. The father of the family, Nikos, had a small pastry shop which, until a few years ago, met their needs and Maria had the time to take care of the children. However, the business did not go well and the debts piled up. The pastry shop was forced to close and Maria found work at a mini market.
Our organization’s social worker & psychologist are continuously by the side of the family and take care to meet every material need so that the children’s daily life will be disturbed as little as possible. The children’s vaccinations, their visits to the pediatrician and to the dentist, their food, clothing, school supplies and even the day care center are also our concerns.
