Katerina is 9 years old. She is in the 4th grade and she is on the spectrum. Her needs are many and she requires specialized care. The difficulties of daily life have recently been added to by the absence of her mother, since her insurmountable personal problems have taken her away.
Today Katerina is growing up with her 81-year-old grandfather and her bedridden grandmother. They live in a provincial town with an income from her grandfather’s agricultural pension and her grandmother’s disability allowance.
However, Katerina needs to grow up like every other child. She requires therapy, to attend a psychoeducational program. Hot, homemade food, clothes, books…She needs to socialize, participate in school trips, attend English classes, continue her extracurricular activities.
She deserves to grow up with dignity.
Katerina is one of the 1,257 children who are growing up in the care of just one member of their family and are in immediate need of our support.
