Joachim is only 3 years old and the youngest child of a family of four, one of the few families that still live in a mountain village in Epirus. Very early on, his parents realized that Joachim did not react to stimuli like his older brother did, and as a result they started a series of tests, despite the difficult financial circumstances they had to face due to the parents' occasional work.
Joachim underwent his first cochlear implant surgery last April and in the coming weeks the same procedure will be repeated so that he can hear the voice of his loved ones and the sounds of nature.
