“The Smile of the Child”, Wings of Help and DHL Express joined forces for the benefit of children in Greece

For the second consecutive year, “The Smile of the Child” and Wings of Help, a Frankfurt-based humanitarian Organization, joined forces in order to deliver first aid items for children and families in Greece. More specifically, the goods were delivered on Thursday, the 19th of September 2019 to the Operational Center and Support Center for Children and Families in Eastern Attica of “The Smile of the Child”. The shipping and the delivery of this assistance from Germany to Greece was made possible thanks to the precious support of DHL Express.

The items included, among others, baby food, hygiene products, bottled water, clothes, shoes for children and computers that will be used through the nationwide network of activities and infrastructures of "The Smile of the Child” with quality and transparency. The arrival of the shipment in Nea Makri, Attica took place in the presence of Frank Franke, President of “Wings of Help”, Costas Yannopoulos, President of “The Smile of the Child” as well as Zoe Petrou and Daphne Kallergi, representatives of DHL Express.

“Thanks to Wings of Help and DHL Express, we have joined forces once again for the benefit of children. In our effort to provide quality support to children and families, ensuring the necessary logistics is key, reflected in powerful and meaningful partnerships such as this one today. On behalf of our entire team we would like to warmly thank you for continuing to be next to us in our daily struggle for the protection and wellbeing of all children” said Costas Yannopoulos.

On his part the President of Wings of Help expressed his positive impression on the level of infrastructure that “The Smile of the Child” has at its disposal as well as on the holistic approach followed by the Organization in its actions for vulnerable children and families. “We are proud to work with one of the largest Organizations in Greece and to be also part of its significant efforts to deliver quality and meaningful services and actions for children”, Frank Franke highlighted.

“We are very pleased that DHL Express has become part of this initiative to transport and deliver essential supplies for children and families in Greece, supported through your actions. Apart from the infrastructure and operational capacity that we are happy to ensure, what is particularly important for our people is the love and sense of giving that we receive when we participate as volunteers to the activities of “The Smile of the Child”, Zoe Petrou said.

Ιn 2018 "The Smile of the Child" and "Wings of Help" signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the transport and supply of first aid goods in Greece with the goal to meet the needs of children and their families in the country. "The Smile of the Child" has the responsibility to ensure the safety, quality, proper storage, management and distribution of the support to families through its nationwide network of actions and infrastructure.

Over the past months, Wings of Help supported emergency actions and services provided from the first moment by the Organization for those affected by the deadly wildfires in East Attica, as well actions subsequently implemented in order to assist the people in need.
The aim of both “The Smile of the Child” and “Wings of Help” is to continue this cooperation in the areas of basic support for all children and families, including children and families of refugees and migrants in the context of the increasing needs that arise in Greece and the wider region as well as to enrich their mutual cooperation in the field of education and medical care for children with serious health problems.
