The Consul General of France in Athens visits the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of “The Smile of the Child”

The meeting was held on Friday, the 16th of March at the premises of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Athens. The visit gave the opportunity to the Consul General of France Mrs. Céline Pendariés to get acquainted with the nationwide actions of “The Smile of the Child”.

Among the issues discussed were the longstanding cooperation between “The Smile of the Child” and French organizations in the field of child protection and care, public institutions and authorities as well as the prospects of further cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as the combating against exploitation and trafficking in children.

Since 2011 “The Smile of the Child” has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of France in Greece and the Permanent Representation of France to the United Nations in Vienna focusing on the actions of the Organization in the field missing and trafficked children through the operation of the Southeastern European Center for Missing and Exploited Children (SEEC).

In December 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between “The Smile of the Child” and “Apprentis d’ Auteuil which is one of largest and oldest Organizations in France in the field of child protection and child care, established in 1866. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding has paved the way for an intense cooperation not only for both organizations, but also between Greece and France.
