“The Smile of the Child” and NGO MAGNOLIA from Ukraine exchange good practices in the field of missing children and minors at risk

Staff members of NGO MAGNOLIA from Ukraine visited premises of “The Smile of the Child” in Athens on 23 to 26 May in the framework of the cooperation between the two Organizations.
The aim of the visit was to inform the representatives of the Ukrainian Organization about the practices and actions of “The Smile of the Child” in the field of missing minors, the operation of the European Hotline for Missing Children 116000, the activation of the Amber Alert Hellas mechanism in cooperation with all the institutional actors.
During the visit the scientific personnel of “The Smile of the Child” presented the ECAAS mechanism to our colleagues from Ukraine, an EU-funded tool used in the cases of missing children and the necessary publicity appeals to the public.
In addition, “The Smile of the Child” presented the actions of the Organization for the protection of children in Greece, the operation of 1056,116000 and 116111 childlines, the handling of reports on abused children, as well as the entire infrastructure set at the disposal of all actors by “The Smile of the Child” in the cases of missing minors or minors at immediate danger.
The team of NGO MAGNOLIA presented the actions of the Organization in Ukraine focusing on the operation of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the publicity appeals for missing children, as well as the fostering of children who have no family or have been removed from the family environment.
On the 25th of May, International Missing Children’s Day our visitors from Ukraine had the opportunity to participate to an event held by “The Smile of the Child” organized on the occasion of the day and in the framework of the EU-funded SAFE project "Sustainable Alliance for Missing Children in Greece".
