In Greece, in the daily practice of supporting women victims of domestic violence (DV) and their children, there is a lack of coordination and networking of the competent bodies, lack of a common protocol for dealing with incidents, training of professionals, etc. In the treatment of DV, many systems are involved that act sequentially, without interconnection & are activated only after specific actions of the victim. This cascading of systems negatively affects the speed & quality of victim protection/support & leads to high under-reporting DV. because the victims are reluctant to appeal to the authorities. But even when they resort, protection is not guaranteed as when the process fails at a critical or early point in the chain, the entire network of protection for the victims collapses.

The aim of the project is to strengthen the support & protection of women & children victims of GBV in Greece, according to the standards of the Istanbul Convention, through building a substantial partnership between police, judicial & support services, utilizing the good practices, tools, experience & know-how of the Police & other competent bodies of Iceland.
